Wireless Instructions

Note: If you see IWU-Wireless as your only available wireless network, please use these instructions.

If you experience an error after entering your username and password, it may be because your password has not been updated recently.  Please visit passchange.iwu.edu and update your password, then try again.  (In technical terms, we may have your password stored using an older hash, and we need it in MD4.)

IWU WiFi Setup for Other Devices

Illinois Wesleyan University’s BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) Wi-Fi network allows users to connect personal or non-essential devices (such as a Google Home, Echo, Game Console, Firestick, etc.) to a secure and reliable alternative network as to not overload the standard IllinoisWesleyan Wi-Fi network primarily used to support essential academic technology.

The IWU-BYOD Wi-Fi network requires a passphrase in order to get connected. These passphrases are automatically generated specific to each user’s NetID and expire every 180 days.

To locate your passphrase and complete your device’s connection to IWU-BYOD, please follow these quick and easy steps:

1. Log in to MyIWU

Go to https://my.iwu.edu and log in using your IWU email and password.

2. Search for “BYOD”

Click on the search bar at the top of your MyIWU Dashboard and enter “BYOD.” Select the first result, the IWU-BYOD tool, to open our self-service BYOD portal.

3. Copy Passphrase

Copy the automatically generated passphrase or scan the QR code with the device you wish to connect to the BYOD Wi-Fi network.

4. Connect to Network

Select IWU-BYOD in your device’s list of available Wi-Fi networks and enter the copied passphrase into the “password” field when prompted.

After these steps are completed, your device should be successfully connected to the internet.
