BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – Downtown Bloomington glows green this weekend as the City of Bloomington joins Illinois Wesleyan University in welcoming Titans home for Homecoming 2026.

The new North Main Street downtown lights were illuminated in green on Thursday night in celebration of Illinois Wesleyan’s Homecoming weekend. The lighting will continue throughout the weekend, providing a bright downtown welcome to alumni, students, families and friends returning to Bloomington for one of the University’s signature traditions.
“Illinois Wesleyan is such an important part of Bloomington, and Homecoming is a wonderful opportunity to welcome alumni back to a place that holds so many memories for them,” said Bloomington Mayor Dan Brady. “Lighting the downtown ring green is a simple way for our City to say, ‘Welcome home, Titans. We’re glad you’re back.’”
The green ring offers a visible connection between Illinois Wesleyan and the Bloomington community, extending Titan pride beyond campus and into the heart of downtown.
“Illinois Wesleyan and the City of Bloomington have a long history together, and we’re proud to celebrate that connection,” said City Manager Jeff Jurgens. “We hope alumni, students and families enjoy Homecoming weekend, spend some time downtown and see all that Bloomington has to offer.”
“This is another indicator of the relationship we have with the city of Bloomington, Jeff Jurgens and Mayor Brady,” said IWU President Sheahon Zenger. “The mutual benefit between the city and Illinois Wesleyan extends throughout our 175-year history. I couldn’t be more grateful.”
Illinois Wesleyan’s Homecoming tradition has brought Titans together for more than a century, and this year marks the University’s 109th Homecoming celebration. Continuing through Oct. 4, Homecoming 2026 connects alumni and friends with current students and the campus community through reunions, performances, athletic events and other cherished traditions.

The celebration comes as Illinois Wesleyan enters its 176th year, marked by significant momentum across campus, including a record year for fundraising, with $34.8 million raised during the 2025-26 fiscal year. The momentum includes the largest single day of giving in McLean County higher education history, as well as major investments in the University’s future, including the Petrick Idea Center and Fisher Center for Quantum Science and Engineering.
Those milestones provide added meaning to this year’s Homecoming as alumni return to a university that is honoring its history while shaping its future.
The green lights downtown offer a simple, visible reminder that Illinois Wesleyan’s story is closely connected to Bloomington, and that Homecoming is a time to come home.
